Mortal Kombat X, released in 2015, is a fighting game part of the long-running Mortal Kombat franchise. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, it marked a new era for the series with fresh features:
- Next-gen Presentation: The game boasted improved graphics and cinematics, taking advantage of the new generation of consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) it was released on.
- Character Variations: For the first time, players could choose from multiple variations of each character, allowing for more strategic customization and diverse fighting styles.
- New Gameplay Mechanics: Mortal Kombat X introduced new gameplay mechanics, including environmental interactions and a unique meter that allowed for special moves and enhanced attacks.
The story continues the long-standing Mortal Kombat conflict, but with a time jump of 25 years. It centers around new and returning characters facing off against a new threat.
